Five Mexico Hospitals Launch ehCOS Technology by NTTDATA
The first digitized hospitals are the most affluent in Mexico City and they attend 2.5 million people approximately.
The Head of Government of the Federal District, Miguel Angel Mancera, launched the Medical Administration and Hospital Information System (SAMIH for its Spanish initials) in Mexico City.
In his opening remarks, he stressed that “… what we are presenting today, despite being a first step, are five hospitals that have already adopted it, that are already operating with this system. This is the equivalent of two entire states of the Mexican Republic; five hospitals in the capital adopting the Electronic Health Record are the equivalent of two states. When we finish with the 31 hospitals and with the entire project that will expand to 220 health centers and 30 specialized clinics, we will have implementated the Electronic Health Record nationwide, and it will not be comparable to any other state or country, whether in Europe or in Central or South America, or several Central American countries together. That’s the size of this project.”
The platform that SAMIH operates on is the result of the integration of the innovative and internationally award-winning product platform ehCOS by NTTDATA, with the most advanced technological solutions on the market provided by Telmex. This partnership was developed by both companies under the direction of Telmex, to meet the digital evolution requirements requested by the Government of Mexico City for their hospitals.
SAMIH allows storage of the clinical and administrative information of the patient, images, laboratory results, diagnostics and medical treatment, while meeting the highest international standards for health and safety, adapting to the regulations in force in each country.
SAMIH will increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the hospital network by 60%, signalling an improvement in the quality care, convenience and patient safety, says Miguel Ángel Mancera, The Head of Government of the Federal District.
A fundamental part of the SAMIH operation and the integration of the Electronic Health Record, is the Digital Training Program in the use of Information Technology in Healthcare, designed by specialists with the mission of developing the aptitudes, knowledge, skills and experiences of doctors, nurses and administrative staff to maximize these new technological tools.
During the presentation of the new platform, the CEO of Telmex, Hector Slim Seade, explained that SAMIH integrates clinical and administrative patient information and optimizes the care processes, increasing patient safety and diagnostic accuracy, while reducing the costs of care by providing clinicians an effective tool that contributes to providing better care.
The Comprehensive Health Solution that SAMIH symbolizes can be used by hospital systems around the country, since they have the digital support and training from TELMEX and the ehCOS Electronic Health Record platform, products and administrative management system, allowing them the meet the major technological challenges facing the healthcare industry with the best value-cost.
